Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 2026

Acadex uses only a small amount of browser storage where it is needed to provide the service or remember settings you have chosen.

We do not currently use advertising cookies, external analytics cookies, cross-site tracking, or behavioural profiling.

This page explains what we store in your browser and why.

What do we mean by cookies and browser storage?

Cookies are small pieces of information that a website can store in your browser.

Web applications can also use other forms of local browser storage for similar purposes.

For simplicity, this policy covers both cookies and comparable technologies that store information on or access information from your device.

What does Acadex use?

Acadex may use browser storage where it is necessary to provide functionality you request.

This can include:

The exact technical implementation can change as Acadex develops, but we apply the same principle:

browser storage should have a clear purpose.

We do not use a necessary login cookie as a hidden analytics identifier.

Authentication and sessions

If you sign in to Acadex, we need to maintain information that allows the service to recognise your authenticated session.

Without this functionality, you would not be able to remain signed in or securely use account-specific parts of Acadex.

This storage is therefore required to provide the service you explicitly request when you log in.

Language and appearance

Acadex can remember settings such as your preferred language or appearance.

This avoids asking you to select the same preference again each time you use the service.

These settings are used to provide the interface you requested.

They are not used to track your activity across other websites.

On the public website, this works as follows:

What we do not use

Acadex does not currently use browser storage for:

We do not currently use services such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Mixpanel, or Amplitude for website analytics.

What about Acadex website statistics?

We do collect a limited amount of information about how our website is used.

For example, we may count page views of selected pages such as the homepage, Pricing, or Institutions.

These statistics are generated server-side on our own infrastructure.

For these statistics, we do not place an analytics cookie in your browser, create a persistent analytics visitor ID, or use browser fingerprinting.

We do not use full IP addresses as long-term analytics identifiers.

We also do not collect URL query strings, search terms, or complete referring URLs for this purpose.

This allows us to answer basic questions such as whether a page is being used without building a detailed profile of the person viewing it.

What about Product Metrics inside Acadex?

Product Metrics are separate from cookies.

Acadex may record a small number of account or product events in our own systems, such as registration, activation, plan status, or cancellation.

Those records do not require us to follow you around the web.

We do not use conversation content, prompts, answers, uploaded documents, saved memories, research topics, or bibliographic search queries for our own Product Analytics.

We measure events, not behaviour.

More information is available in our Privacy Policy.

Why is there no cookie-consent banner?

Under German law, storing information on a user’s device or accessing information already stored there generally requires consent.

An exception applies where that storage or access is strictly necessary to provide a digital service that the user has expressly requested.

Acadex currently limits browser storage to purposes that fall within this necessary or user-requested functionality.

Our own server-side website statistics do not require us to store an analytics identifier on your device.

For that reason, we do not currently display a consent banner simply for the sake of having one.

A consent banner should represent a real choice.

If there is nothing optional to accept or reject, we do not want to pretend otherwise.

What happens if you block cookies or browser storage?

Your browser allows you to delete or block cookies and other stored website information.

You are free to use those controls.

However, blocking storage that Acadex requires for authentication or another requested feature can prevent that part of the service from working correctly.

For example, you may not be able to remain signed in if your browser refuses the information required to maintain your session.

Deleting preference information may also reset settings such as your selected language or appearance.

Will this policy change?

Possibly.

Acadex will continue to evolve.

If we introduce optional analytics, advertising technologies, or other browser storage that legally requires consent, we will not treat your continued use of the website as consent.

We will provide the necessary information and request consent before using the relevant technology.

We will also update this policy when the technologies we actually use change.

The date at the top of this page shows when the current version was last updated.
